Ivan Piljan was born on April 1, 1956 in Pljevlja. He has a degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications. He obtained his higher education at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade. He has a master's degree in insurance at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Ohrid. The topic of the master's thesis is "Risk transfer using the concept of maximum self-retention". PhD in insurance at the University of Business Engineering and Management Banja Luka, Faculty of Economics. The topic of the doctoral dissertation: "CONDITIONS OF THE LIFE INSURANCE MARKET IN SERBIA AND POSSIBILITIES OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONDITIONS OF FREE MARKET BUSINESS"
